Orange opens up international money transfer in Africa

Orange is targeting international payments

Orange is launching an international money transfer service across three of its African markets: Mali, Senegal and Cote d’Ivoire, targeting a sector where every year, €200m are moved between the three countries in the form of money transfers.

Orange Money International Transfer allows money to be sent and received from the user’s mobile phone with complete security by dialling a short code and the intended recipient’s number.

Funds are immediately available in the recipient’s account to make payments, purchases or transfers, or it can be withdrawn at a nearby location from any Orange Money distributor.

Orange’s goal is to expand the service in Africa to other countries in which the group is present. Available in 13 countries in Africa and the Middle East, Orange Money – the group’s umbrella mobile money platform – has more than seven million customers.
