Vodafone UK enterprise director leaves for Virgin Media
Vodafone's Peter Kelly will take on the role of managing director at Virgin Media Business

The enterprise director of Vodafone UK, Peter Kelly, will take on the role of managing director at Virgin Media Business on September 16, 2013.

The announcement comes just a day after it was revealed that Vodafone UK CIO Mark Dearnley, will also step down from his role and take on the role chief digital and information officer at the HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC).

Incoming MD Kelly will report directly to Tom Mockridge, Virgin Media’s CEO, and will be part of the group executive committee.  He spent the last five years at Vodafone, leading the transformation of its enterprise division.

“Despite the economic challenges currently facing our public sector and private enterprise customers, the business-to-business market offers big long term opportunities for us,” said Mockridge. “Peter is the right person to have on board to accelerate Virgin Media Business’s growth and challenge the incumbents in this market.”

Kelly himself added that Virgin Media Business has already made huge strides forward in establishing itself as the main challenger to BT in business telecoms.

Virgin Media Business interim Tony Grace will continue in his role until Kelly joins in September. Grace will then return to his previous position as COO of the business division.
