Iraqi operator Asiacell, a subsidiary of Qatari operator group Ooredoo, has appointed Amer Al Sunna as its CEO.

Asiacell, which said it currently has more than 10.5 million subscribers, recent completed its IPO on the Iraq Stock Exchange. According to Asiacell chairman and founder Faruk Mustafa Rasool, Al Sunna will be tasked with helping “continue the success of our operation and ensure our success well into the future”.

Amer Sunna joined the Ooredoo group as CEO of wi-tribe Jordan in August of 2010 and has been managing director of Asiacell Iraq since February 2013.

Outgoing CEO Dr Diar Ahmed, who served in his position for almost six years, will serve as chief advisor to the chairman.
