Infrastructure vendor Nokia Solutions and Networks (NSN) has appointed Deon Geyser as head of the Southern African sub-region, who has rejoined the firm from international operator group Millicom Cellular International, which is parent to the Tigo brand in Africa and Latin America.

In his previous role at NSN, Geyser served as country director for Tanzania between 2007 and 2012. He left to join Millicom as COO for the firm’s business in Tanzania, before rejoining the vendor in his new role, effective immediately.

“With his strong track record in several key management positions in telecommunications companies, he will prove an excellent addition to the vibrant NSN team in the Middle East and Africa region,” said Igor Leprince, senior vice president for the Middle East and Africa business region at NSN.

NSN added that Geyser had held various roles across NSN before moving to Millicom and has vast experience across mobile broadband, value added services, billing, business transformation, managed services and customer experience management.

Earlier this month, NSN revealed plans to open a Mobile Broadband Security Center in the German capital of Berlin. The firm said it wanted to drive awareness of, and collaboration on, network security among industry, public sector and end users. The new facility will begin operations in the second half of this year.
