Swedish operator group Tele2 has announced the appointment of Allison Kirkby as CFO. Kirkby will succeed outgoing CFO Lars Nilsson and begin her role on May 1st, 2014.

Kirkby’s previous role was as CFO at global media production company Shine Group. According to Tele2, she played a key role in integrating the firm into News Corporation, following a 2011 acquisition.

Prior to her role at Shine Group Kirkby was executive director of finance operations and transformation at Virgin Media, and before that she held a range of senior financial and operational roles at Procter & Gamble over two decades.

Mats Granryd, President and CEO at Tele2 said the firm “couldn’t have found a better replacement” for Nilsson and hailed Kirkby’s financial experience and “strong personality”.

“I believe that my financial and operational experiences from several different companies and industries will be a strong asset in the further development of Tele2,” commented Kirkby. “Moreover, I feel a solid personal match with the company culture, the Tele2 brand character and its growth ambition. The Tele2 way, the challenger spirit and the company’s will to do bold and different things really attracted me.”

Earlier this month, Tele2 appointed a new CEO for its Dutch subsidiary. Jeff Dodds has joined the operator from Virgin Media and will begin his role on April 14th 2014.

The operator also announced this month that it is evaluating a number of strategic options for its Norwegian operations after the operator failed to win any spectrum in the latest Norwegian frequency auction in December.
