LTE to be used for live TV broadcasts in Norway
White space networks are key to the IoT

The Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation (NRK) has tapped up TeliaSonera subsidiary NetCom as its supplier of voce and mobile broadband services, demonstrating some of the application potential for LTE.

Several thousand 4G subscriptions are included in the contract, which NRK says will open up the potential for live broadcasting over LTE, where the company has previously been compelled to use fixed broadband access.

NetCom said it is investing NOK1bn on increased network coverage and quality over the coming two years, and said speeds of up to 80Mbps will be rolled out in large parts of Norway during the period.
