Virgin gets on "free broadband" bandwagon

Virgin Mobile has partnered with sister company and broadband provider Virgin.net as the latest partnership to get in on the “free broadband” market.

The pair, both of which are owned by cableco NTL, are offering a year’s free broadband at up to 8Mbps speeds to customers that sign up Virgin Mobile’s SIM-only pay monthly tariffs for 12 months.

The contract tariffs are available for either £15 or £30 per month and offer broadband subscribers a 6GB monthly download allowance and free set up and modem.

Graeme Hutchinson, trading director at Virgin Mobile said: “This offer represents fantastic value for those customers who want free broadband for a year at home and have someone in their household who wants a great value mobile package and has a handset they are happy with. We will keep our promise and deliver what our competition has failed to do.”
