Elitecore announces African carrier wifi win

Wifi service management platform company Elitecore Technologies has announced an as yet unspecified network equipment provider has chosen it as a partner for African projects to enable carriers to extend their data services through a network of wifi hotspots.

The projects will enable African operators to bundle 3G and wifi plans allowing 3G subscribers to use higher throughput via wifi by using the existing 3G balance on smartphones, as well as with other devices through password authentication. The planned platform will also allow voucher-based wifi hotspot access, with access obtainable via online banking or mobile money.

“Elitecore’s pre-integrated and modular platform seamlessly integrates with the operator’s existing IT and network infrastructure resulting into quick time to market, faster roll out of services and hence better Capex savings,” said Akshat Joshi, VP, Wifi Product Management, Elitecore Technologies.
