Benin regulator interrupts service

Nearly one million subscribers in the West African nation of Benin have lost service. The regulator of the Gold Coast country has forced two of the country’s four operator to cease operations in a dispute over unpaid licences.

Customers of MTN and Atlantique Telecom are without cellular connections as their network operators have not signed new operating licences inclusing a $50m (500 per cent) rise in the operator fee.
