FLO standardisation moves along

The FLO Forum, a trade association of proponents of Qualcomm’s FLO (Forward Link Only) technology, on Tuesday said they had submitted the FLO Transport Specification to the Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA) TR-47.1 subcommittee.

The move marks another milestone in the open standardisation of FLO technology, the Forum said.

The proposed standard specifies the framing formats and procedures for delivering application service packets securely over the FLO air interface.

“The specification ensures consumers will receive a consistently high level of service, while guaranteeing that rights holders’ content is protected,” said Robin Wilson, VP of business development at digital TV software developer Nagravision.

“The FLO Forum is firmly committed to a global open standardisation program whose scope goes well beyond the published FLO air interface standards,” said Kamil Grajski, president of the FLO Forum.
