Cingular to disappear from Monday

As of Monday, the largest mobile operator in the US, Cingular Wireless, will be no more. Instead, the AT&T brand will be making a comeback under the merger agreement between the two companies.

While the AT&T logo will be prominent in all advertising and communications, the ads will initially include a transitional graphic with both the AT&T and Cingular logos.

In the company’s broadcast spots, the Cingular “Jack” character will skywrite the AT&T globe logo.

As part of the rebranding initiative, approximately 2,000 nationwide stores will be renamed over the coming year with AT&T-branded signage.

This also means that by the time the Apple iPhone launches in the US later this year, it will be available on the AT&T network rather than Cingular.
