Google to provide mobile search in China

Search giant Google on Wednesday said it had made an agreement with China Mobile to provide mobile search services in China.

Google, which has been criticised in the past for providing its service in China, said it will provide search technology for mobile search on the Chinese operator’s Monternet WAP portal.

The service was trialled in September, according to Google and is expected to be rolled out during Q1 2007.

Phase one of the service has entered trial operations in December and will be rolled out in early 2007, Google said.
