Asia-Pac operators join forces on M2M

As operators globally begin to place more emphasis on the opportunities in the M2M sector, 11 Asia Pacific carriers have joined an alliance to offer their customers a ‘one-stop-shop’ for M2M services.

NSN, ZTE win Indian contracts from Aircel

Nokia Siemens Networks and its competitor ZTE have both announced contract wins in the high growth Indian market. NSN said it has secured a deal to supply, deploy and manage an HSPA+ network for Indian carrier Aircel in three of the nation’s telecom circles; Punjab, Kolkata and rest of West Bengal. The win is an extension of the firms’ existing relationship, that sees NSN manage Aircel’s GSM/EDGE network in six Indian circles. Aircel is a subsidiary of Malaysian player Maxis.

Maxis brings NFC payments to Malaysia

Malaysian mobile operator Maxis launched what it claims to be the world’s first commercial mobile payment system based on NFC (Near Field Communications) technology on Thursday.

Aircel invests $400m in new kit

Saudi Telecom buys chunk of Maxis

It has emerged that Saudi Telecom is looking to buy into Malaysian market leader Maxis Communications.
