UK mobile banking use forecast to double

The number of UK mobile banking users is set to almost double from 17.8 million to 32.6 million by 2020, according to a new report commissioned by Fiserv, writes Banking Technology. Online banking is still growing too, the research found.

Record $19.2B invested in mobile Internet in past 12 months – study

A study conducted by financial advisory and analyst firm Digi-Capital has revealed the mobile Internet industry has benefited from a record level of investment in the past year. According to the report, mobile Internet investment peaked at $19.2 billion (£12 billion) in the 12 months up to Q3 2014.

Carrier billing gains traction among UK operators

All of the UK’s mobile network operators have extended their carrier billing offerings by connecting to Gemalto’s direct billing platform, the mobile security solutions provider announced.

Swedish players band together in m-payments move

Sweden’s mobile operators are the latest carriers to band together and form a mobile payments joint venture. Investment amounts have not been revealed, but Telia, Tele2, Telenor and 3 will each own 25 per cent.

Visa invests in m-payments platform

Financial services provider Visa Europe has invested £24.7m in mobile payments platform Monitise, giving the latter a greater European presence. Monitise is also consolidating its position in the US by buying out its partner in its US operation.
