Idea Cellular biggest bidder in India spectrum auction

Following the Indian Supreme Court lifting its initial embargo on publishing results, Idea Cellular has emerged as the biggest bidder in the country’s latest 2G and 3G spectrum auction. After 19 days and 115 rounds of bidding, the Indian government managed to haul in a nice lot of cash at a record total of INR1.1 trillion ($17.5 billion).

Reliance forges Indian 3G roaming deal

Indian operators Reliance Communications, Tata Teleservices and Aircel this week announced a three way inter-circle roaming partnership to offer pan-Indian 3G services to their customers.

NTT Docomo to sell Indian stake

Japanese operator NTT Docomo has put its stake in Indian operator Tata Teleservices up for sale. The Japanese firm has a 26.5 per cent stake in the Indian operator, which it acquired in 2009. But Docomo intends to sell its stake back to its JV partner Tata Group.

NTT DoCoMo to increase investment in Tata Teleservices

NTT DoCoMo is to increase its investment in India’s Tata Teleservices Liminted (TTSL). TTSL is looking to raise up to $670m in a stock sell-off to fund network expansion in India, including a 3G wireless network, which was launched in November last year.

DoCoMo brand to debut in India

Indian carrier Tata Teleservices (TTSL) is to launch a GSM service this month under the brand of Japanese carrier NTT DoCoMo, which holds a 26 per cent stake in TTSL.
