Former US ambassador to China Clark Randt has joined Qualcomm's Board of Directors

Chipmaker Qualcomm has announced the appointment of former US ambassador to China to its Board of Directors, at the firm looks to expand its footprint in China.

Clark Randt served as ambassador to China between 2001 and 2009, and brings more than 30 years of experience as a diplomat, attorney and businessman with a comprehensive understanding of Chinese industries and businesses to Qualcomm. He currently serves as the president of Randt & Company.

“As China remains a key emerging region, his extensive background in working with China’s government and businesses will provide invaluable insight to Qualcomm’s board as we look to further expand the company’s footprint in the country’s rapidly growing and evolving wireless ecosystem,” said Dr. Paul E. Jacobs, chairman and CEO of Qualcomm.

In his current role as president of Randt & Company, Randt provides strategy consulting services to clients that are developing business in China.

As ambassador, he worked on improving the political, economic and cultural relationship between the US and China. Prior to this, he was a partner at Shearman & Sterling where he served as head of China practices and was a member of the firm’s mergers and acquisitions and corporate finance groups.
