European operator group Telekom Austria has named CEO of its Slovenian subsidiary Si.mobil Dejan Turk as CEO and CMO of its Serbian subsidiary Vip Mobile. Turk will begin his new roles on March 1^st, 2014.

Turk joined the Telekom Austria group in 2004 as marketing and sales director at Si.mobil. He became CMO at the Slovenian subsidiary in 2006 and CEO in 2007.

According to Telekom Austria, Si.mobil saw significant growth under Turk, becoming the second largest operator in the country with a 30 per cent market share. Research firm Informa’s WCIS service shows that the operator had 673,950 subscribers as of September 2013, trailing only Mobitel Slovenia’s 1.22 million subscribers.  Si.mobil’s financial performance also grew continuously and achieved stability under Turk’s leadership, the group added.

Vip Mobile is currently Serbia’s third placed operator, with 1.91 million subscribers as of September 2013, according to Informa’s WCIS.

Si.mobil CFO Boštjan Škufca Zaveršek will take on the role of interim CEO and will lead the firm with CTO Ulrich Rokita until a permanent successor to Turk has been found.

In March last year, Vip Mobile signed a five year managed services deal with Swedish vendor Ericsson covering field maintenance services for access equipment and site infrastructure. As part of the deal, 20 Vip Mobile employees were transferred to Ericsson.
