Millicom appoints Ghana and LatAm TV services heads

Operator group Millicom has announced the appointment of a general manager for its Tigo subsidiary in Ghana as well as a VP for TV services in Latin America.

Millicom operates the Tigo brand in 15 markets across Africa and Latin America. It has appointed Roshi Motman as general manager at Tigo Ghana who will take on the role immediately. She replaces former general manager Adil El Youssefi who has left the group.

Motman joins Tigo after almost ten years with various companies within the Kinnevik Group including several management roles at mobile operator Tele2 Sweden.  Prior to Tele2, she was responsible for the development of mobile entertainment at Modern Times Group, parent company of TV channel Viasat.

“Roshi takes the helm as Tigo continues its journey of transformation as a digital lifestyle company,” said Arthur Bastings, Millicom’s executive vice president for Africa. “We are looking forward to benefiting from her track record of innovative and customer centric leadership.”

Millicom added that it now intends to appoint a deputy general manager for Ghana.

Meanwhile Klaudia Bermudez has also been appointed vice president for channels and content for Tigo’s TV services across Latin America.

Bermudez also takes up her new role immediately and has worked at Sony for the past 15 years. In her most recent role she served as senior vice president and general manager for Channels Latin America at Sony Pictures Television.

Martin Lewerth, executive vice president for Home and Digital Media at Millicom, said that Bermudez “not only knows the content and entertainment industry inside-out, she also has extensive experience and personal networks across Latin America”.

“In Klaudia we have a proven talent to support our drive to create even more compelling content for our customers in Latin America following the recent launch of Tigo Star.”

Tigo Star is the group’s new brand created to promote take up of the Millicom’s broadband, cable and pay-TV services.

Earlier today, Millicom announced that it has set up a technology incubator through its Tigo brand in Rwanda.
