European backbone network operator Interoute has acquired its own video conferencing operation in the form of Scandinavia’s Visual Conference Group (VCG). The bolt on adds fully managed video conferencing and telepresence services to Interoute’s portfolio.

Interoute is keen to pick up on the growing interest in video calling and conferencing platforms. There are finally gaining momentum as more suitable ‘broadband’ speeds are made available. Interoute believes that organisations that had previously been deterred from video conferencing by the challenge of having to self-manage a platform, will now be tempted.

The video conferencing services will be added to Interoute’s Unified Communication portfolio – a suite of cloud-based offerings and will be available as a video-as-as-service model.
