Winners of inaugural LTE Asia Awards revealed

The  9th LTE Asia event, held in Singapore, has announced this year’s inaugural award winners in eight different categories. LTE Asia, part of Informa’s LTE World Series, gathered together some 1,000 attendees from over 50 APAC countries.

Seven technology companies and one telco were awarded in the following categories:

  • Best Test/Measurement LTE Product – Polystar

  • Most Significant Development of a Commercial LTE Network (Operator Only) – SK Telecom

  • Best LTE Core Network Product – Cisco

  • Best Traffic Management Product – Gigamon

  • Best LTE Roaming Product – SAP

  • Best VoLTE Innovation – Samsung

  • Innovation in HetNet Development – Huawei

  • NFV Innovation of the Year – Mavenir Systems

The winners were chosen by a panel of judges, consisting of five industry experts, including Ajay Sunder, Senior Director, Telecom, Frost & Sullivan, Dimitris Mavrakis, Principal Analyst, Ovum, and Guang Yang, Senior Analyst, Wireless Operator Strategies, Strategy Analytics.

“We are thrilled that Cisco has won the ‘Best LTE Core Network Product Award,” said Clive Sng, Cisco Marketing Manager. “This signified our commitment to consistently deliver the most innovative and advanced technology that is recognised by our industry peers.”

“It is SK Telecom’s great honor to be recognized as a pioneer in the field of LTE and LTE-Advanced by winning this prestigious award at LTE Asia,” said Park Jin-hyo, Vice President SK Telecom. “SK Telecom is committed to introducing even more advanced network technologies that can fortify and enhance our customers’ mobile experience.”

“We are delighted and honoured to have won the ‘Best LTE Roaming Product’ award at the LTE Asia 2014 Awards in Singapore,” said Jann Yip, Senior Marketing Manager, APJ, SAP Mobile Services. “This award demonstrates the industry’s recognition of SAP Mobile Services’ achievements. Thank you Informa and the panel of judges for the recognition.”

The event, where approximately 60% of the delegates represented operators, focused on some of the current hot topics of the LTE space, including LTE evolution, antenna evolution, signalling, unified communications, network optimisation, 5G, enhanced services, monetising LTE, roaming, IPX and wholesale, and HetNets.

The LTE World Series includes 12 worldwide events, covering all global regions. At a recent Amsterdam event, Telecoms.com co-hosted the awards, at which Huawei was the big winner.
