As India bans more Chinese apps, Apple reportedly moves manufacturing to Vietnam

The trade war with the US continues to take its toll on Chinese business interests through a combination of sanctions and retreats.

India seems to have decided that Chinese mobile apps represent a grave threat to its national security, because it keeps banning them. The latest batch of 43 apps, which somehow slipped through the net in previous purges, include Alibaba’s ecommerce service AliExpress.

“This action was taken based on the inputs regarding these apps for engaging in activities which are prejudicial to sovereignty and integrity of India, defence of India, security of state and public order,” said the Indian announcement. “Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology has issued the order for blocking the access of these apps by users in India based on the comprehensive reports received from Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Center, Ministry of Home Affairs.”

We don’t know if all the banned apps are Chinese, but that’s where the smart money is. There is no specific mention of China in the announcement and that’s probably why India is being so piecemeal about this. The objective is clearly to ban all Chinese apps, but the way of international diplomacy is to never admit such things.

Meanwhile Reuters reports Taiwanese electronics manufacturer Foxconn is relocating some of its Apple work from China to Vietnam at the request of the fruity gadget giant. It seems Apple doesn’t like the look of how the trade war between China and the US is progressing and has decided discretion is the better part of valour.

This seems like a sensible move, given the climate of unilateral action against companies merely because of their country of origin. In fact, it’s amazing China hasn’t retaliated for the victimisation of Huawei yet and it must surely be a matter of time before a US company gets put on some kind of Chinese shit-list. When that does happen it would be wise to have as few of your business interests as possible on Chinese soil.

Why is India bending to US propaganda? Don’t they realise that the same fate awaits them in the future as long as the US is allowed to control the global financial system? We all thought Modi is a staunch nationalist but it turns out he’s just a laptop of western imperialism.

I thought India has its own problems with China. I don’t think this is related to the trade wars between the US and China

Not at all, China is ruled by communist dictators, where there is no human or animal rights, on the other hand India is the largest democratic country and they respect the universal law( help the poor and needy, rule with reason and compassion). World is suffering because of Chinese lies. Boycott made in China.

I dont think India is moved by US propaganda. But I do know India & China already hv their own dispute and clashes at their border. And I believe this is the reason for their boycotting on Chinese apps.

China invaded India and killed their troops. I wouldn’t call that US propaganda

Every country reserves the right to ban or impose restrictions on goods arriving on its shore. By banning some goods where indians have talent would enable development of same in india thus saving the country millions

I’ve noticed that China did not say much about the clashes at its border with India as to them is a small matter. There are better things to do. But India and its media are crowing here and there about the clashes, taking action against chinese businesses, stop buying chinese products, collaborating with the US, buying military planes, etc. India is making a mountain out of a molehill. While China is quietly going about its business to progress!

China is quiet because that is how shameless land grabber would behave. As history can’t be used in this region to emboldened their greedy land grabbing arena….China choose to desensitise this issue among their citizen. Also how do you expect a communist regime will behave on the ground of freedom of information. Also the chinese military can’t bully India using military although superior to India, India is able to give resistance and they can’t say our soldiers get killed to their citizens right?

    • Avatar Amit 27/11/2020 @ 12:33 pm

It is become China is into land grabbing and not India. So why would China accept its position. It is India who needs to protect thr borders.

I can see, why you are on the side of communist dictators, if you really like China and it’s leaders go back to China and live like ordinary Chinese. You won’t live there more than few days, you have no rights to say anything against those terrible leaders despite ruled like devils on earth.

Do you see violent riots and demonstrations in China. Compared to India.. Muslims and Hindus always clashed resulting in deaths in their mad orgies of blood letting. India is better. Smog, noise, poverty, caste system..

I personally believe what India is doing is best for the global balance. CCP thought it was going to be walk in the park with their salami slice policy but little did they know that it would backfire them back so drastically, classic communist mistake. China is going on with its communist land invasion policy with India, HK, Tibet. I simply wont be surprised that all this will lead to an independent Tibet and HK right to self govern which they have deserved for centuries.

I guess this is first time ever china has felt the heat of trade war and growing opposition worldwide against its dirty and cheap practices. Doesnt matter what the whole world say but no one can be blinded by the fact that COVID19 was a well planned and organised pandemic manufactured in Chinese labs. They successfully managed to sabotage the economy of every country in the world and yet they are flourishing by selling masks and 3rd grade cheap Chinese equipement to needy countries. Every country have rights to protect its economy and trade and India is just taking these steps finally to thwart further invasion of cheap Chinese products and monopoly in e commerce. The whole world should unite against the illegal Chinese invasions in every sphere and give them the taste of their own propaganda which they have used to infect the whole world.

Silence is becoming foolish for the Chinese government considering the way every dick, tom and Harry are tossing them here and there,
The worst is yet to come

All those who is supporting China and in favour, are their staunch supporters of Chinese idiology and their puppet spreader of communism. See how they invaded other countries and claiming it is theirs, Tibet, Hong Kong, parts of India and parts of Kashmir which belongs to India, parts of Vietnam and so on. Only now India has woke up, any country which is strong in powerful Army and Money then they are worshipped like God’s. India like a fool during the rule of Congress Did nothing to improve the welfare of the country, people, building a powerful army and becoming a Global power no, the elected politicians all start laundering the nation’s wealth. Only now under the rule of Narendra Modi it will start progressing into a fast pace. The nation should give full support 100% undivided to the prime minister Modi. Example under the leadership of Vajpaee, he started a great project to build a powerful army, but when Congress came in power it stopped the project, because they cannot make money. This changes are long overdue. Syabas Narendra Modi. I salute you,

India has issues with China that have little to do with US or any external propaganda. China’s media is very tightly state-controlled, so of course they don’t mention anything like the humiliation they faced in their border clash with India.

China is hurt because India in 2020 took control of the posts of Kailash Range but did not go back like it did in 1962 creating a situation leaving the Kailash Range back in Indian control first time after 1962. China has army. So what. Should India gift Delhi to Jinping idiot.

Good and bold move by government.

If Indian customer will. Be attracted to cheap Chinese products without checking quality then we can’t make in India possible.

Gov also should make some. Move to do ease of business in. India.

All are proud. Of mother India.
