The GSMA hopes to boost the M2M market

Swedish operator group TeliaSonera has implemented a platform to strengthen its M2M offering in the Nordic and Baltic markets. The operator has deployed Swedish vendor Ericsson’s Device Connection Platform which will enable it to deploy and manage large volumes of mobile subscriptions and provide flexibility to its M2M partners and customers.

The carrier said that the platform will enable more efficient delivery of connectivity and improves cost efficiency for M2M, contributing to lower costs for its partners and customers.

The platform also offers the operator full control and vision of all of its M2M subscriptions through a web portal. This means that TeliaSonera is able to manage connectivity issues faster and more efficiently than it was previously, contributing to improved customer service to end users.

“With this new contract we continue to build our global footprint as a leading vendor of machine-to-machine solutions,” said Robert Puskaric, head of region for Northern Europe and Central Asia at Ericsson.

The operator estimates that there will be more than one billion connected devices in the Nordics and Baltics by 2020, of which 100 million will be connected to mobile networks.
