DNA network evolves

Swedish vendor Ericsson has completed its HSDPA upgrade on Finish operator DNA’s WCDMA network.

The contract for the upgrade was signed late in December last year.

Launched in 2001, DNA is Finland’s fourth placed but fastest growing mobile operator.

Figures from Informa’s World Cellular Information Service put its total subscriber base at 978,400 as of the end of January this year, although only 40,200 of these are on the carrier’s WCDMA network.

Janne Laitala, Ericsson country manager for Finland, said: “The rollout represents a milestone in Ericsson’s long-standing relationship with DNA Finland. It provides them with a market-leading solution, allowing them to offer end users an enriched experience with access to services such as fast internet browsing, file downloading and email messaging.”
