OTT partnerships boost customer retention, says survey

Respondents to the Telecoms.com Industry Survey 2014 reaffirmed the previous year’s enthusiasm for the idea of partnership between OTT players and operators, with 92 per cent believing there is value in such collaboration. But this year the key benefits were pinpointed as improved customer retention and a competitive advantage.

AsiaInfo claims first European deal with Telenor Denmark transformation project

Chinese telecoms software provider AsiaInfo Linkage has announced a supply deal with Telenor Denmark, the vendor’s first European mobile operator win since its launch in the region last year. AsiaInfo described the project as a BSS transformation, which will include the provision of its proprietary billing, CRM and real-time analytics solutions, including its Veris BSS product.

Real time self service key to prepaid mobile broadband revenue increase

Real time self service (RTSS) is the key to encouraging consumers to spend more on mobile data consumption, with operators in Western Europe missing potential annual incremental data revenues of €4bn, according to research released by Northstream and Chinese BSS vendor AsiaInfo-Linkage.

AsiaInfo-Linkage touts Big Data contextual ad platform

Chinese BSS provider AsiaInfo-Linkage has teamed up with IBM to bring its Big Data appliance to Europe and other markets outside of China. The key to the Veris C3 (C cubed) offering is contextual awareness to ensure operators are only delivering relevant ads to their customers.

Internal politics stifling BSS standardisation

Cultural issues represent the greatest obstacle to the introduction of centralised BSS strategies for network operators according to data from the Telecoms.com Intelligence Industry Survey 2013. Internal politics and conflicting business cultures between a group operator’s HQ and its individual opcos was given the highest rating of severity by 21.6 per cent of respondents and rated severe or very severe by more than half.
