ATOM to spend big on Myanmar 5G launch

ATOM, the operator formerly known as Telenor, has unveiled plans to invest hundreds of millions of dollars in Myanmar in the coming years, one of its goals being to launch the market’s first 5G service.

Android to be optimised for Intel’s Atom chips

Chip manufacturer Intel is teaming up with Google to ensure that future releases of the Android operating system are optimised for Intel’s Atom processors. Intel said that it wants to step up its efforts in the lucrative smartphone arena at the opening keynote of the Intel Developer Forum in San Francisco.

Intel reports stellar second quarter

The tech industry shows further signs of a turnaround as US chip giant Intel reported its best ever quarter, with revenues rising 34 per cent year on year to reach $10.8bn in the second quarter of 2010. Net income for the same period was up 175 per cent year on year to $2.9bn.
