Alcatel-Lucent virtualizes content delivery network

Alcatel-Lucent has introduced new management, programmability and automation features to its existing Velocix Content Delivery Network (CDN). Aimed at IP video delivery for pay-TV operators, the solution will make use of virtualization technologies, which enables further control over traffic and resource management within the CDN.

Verizon beefs up content delivery network

Following its acquisition of content delivery network provider EdgeCast, Verizon Digital Media Services has started adding direct local connectivity to many of the world’s largest broadband providers, streamlining delivery and distribution of content to ensure high-quality user experiences and handle traffic spikes as connected devices, user bases and file sizes continue to grow.

Russia’s Rostelecom deploys “groundbreaking” CDN

Russian operator Rostelecom has deployed what it claims is one of the world’s largest operator content delivery networks (CDN). The network sees the deployment of content servers in 30 major Russian cities by Swedish infrastructure vendor Ericsson, which said that the platform will enable Rostelecom to create sustainable businesses in partnership with over the top (OTT) service providers.

Tata sources content delivery network

Tata Communications, the carrier services arm of Indian conglomerate Tata Group, has acquired a content delivery network (CDN), better equipping the firm to help network operators deliver media assets to end users.
