Microsoft confirms Nadella as CEO

Microsoft announced Tuesday that Satya Nadella will indeed take on the role of chief executive officer at the software company effective immediately. The company’s founder Bill Gates will also be stepping down as chairman to assume a more hands-on role on the board as a technology advisor.

Rogers appoints Vodafone UK boss

Canadian operator Rogers Communications has poached Vodafone UK’s CEO Guy Laurence. He will take on the role of president and CEO at the firm from December 2, 2013. In response, Vodafone UK has promoted enterprise director Jeroen Hoencamp to fill Laurence’s shoes.

RIM co-CEOs step down

RIM has appointed a new CEO after increasing shareholder pressure and a poor financial performance in 2011. Thorsten Heins will take over as president and CEO, with former co-CEOs Mike Lazaridis and Jim Balsillie stepping down. Lazaridis will become vice chair of RIM’s board and chair of the board’s new Innovation Committee and Balsillie will remain a member of the Board.

Bartz sacked as Yahoo CEO

Carol Bartz has been sacked as CEO of Yahoo, after more than two and a half years at the firm. CFO Timothy Morse has been made interim CEO while the board looks for a successor. Morse will also continue in his role as CFO.
