Chilean operator Entel and infrastructure vendor Ericsson have completed what they said is the first Latin American live LTE network test over the APT700MHz spectrum. The trial involved the deployment of 10 test sites with equipment using the frequency band in Rancagua city in Chile.
América Móvil-owned operator Claro Chile has launched the country’s first commercial LTE services. The launch follows trials launched in November 2012. The operator conducted the first LTE session on its network in March this year.
As part of the agreement, Nokia Siemens Networks will improve the operator’s network management system based on NetAct. The contract also involves implementation services; software upgrades and implementation; as well as network monitoring to ensure network performance and service quality.
Not to be outdone by Ericsson’s news of an LTE win in the US, Nokia Siemens Networks (NSN) on Wednesday notched up a far reaching managed services deal in Latin America with NII Holdings.
