Contactless payments ramp up in 2017

Following the announcement WhatsApp will enter into the mobile payments arena, new estimates from Juniper Research claims Apple Pay contactless users will nearly double over 2017.

Telefónica partners with Spanish banks on payment services

Telefónica has partnered with Spanish banks La Caixa and Santander to deliver mobile payment services and a digital wallet. Users of the new service will be able to gather all their credit cards into the new digital wallet; they will also be able to send and receive funds via their mobile phone. Bank account details will not be necessary; all the sender needs is the recipient’s phone number.

Orange launches contactless mobile wallet

The UK arm of France Telecom’s Orange has launched what it says is the first contactless mobile phone-based payment services, allowing customers to make purchases up to the value of £15. Softbank trials contactless payments
