Huawei launches multi-vendor NFV lab in China

Huawei has launched an open lab in Xi’an, China, which the telecom kit giant said is dedicated to multi-vendor efforts to further the development of NFV infrastructure, platforms and services.

Industry giants form mobile edge open networking group

A consortium of operators, infrastructure vendors and IT vendors have collaborated to develop an open architecture and API for delivering content and services from the mobile edge. Nokia Networks, Vodafone, IBM, Intel, NTT DoCoMo and Huawei are all supporting the Mobile Edge Computing (MEC) working group at standards body ETSI.

Intel claims lead role in NFV creation

At an Intel event in London this week, Telecoms.com sat down with VP and General Manager of Intel’s Communications and Storage Infrastructure Group, Rose Schooler. Standards body and industry specification group ETSI is to develop an architecture for the virtualisation of various functions within telecoms networks.

First VoLTE call made on live LTE infrastructure

The International Multimedia Telecommunications Consortium (IMTC) has completed what it says is the first ever voice over LTE (VoLTE) test on a live LTE infrastructure. The test, which took place at the SuperOp annual telecoms testing event in Hawaii, involved key industry players Ericsson, Huawei, Samsung, Intel Mobile and ST Ericsson, among others.
