Ofcom increases scrutiny of BT with dark fibre proposal

UK telecoms regulator Ofcom has stepped up its efforts to reduce BT’s dominance of the UK fixed line market by announcing proposals that would oblige BT to open up its so called ‘dark fibre’ for use by competitors.

Verizon to sell off towers and part of fixed-line business – report

Verizon Communications, the parent company of US operator Verizon Wireless, is about to sell off some of its assets including mobile towers and parts of its fixed-line business, a report by the Wall Street Journal has claimed. The company is said to be selling the assets in several separate deals whose value could be over $15 billion.

A battle for control of Greece’s leading alternative fixed line operator has broken out, as Vodafone Greece joined forces with Wind Hellas to try and take control of Forthnet, which also owns pay TV operator Nova.
