UK-based broadband infrastructure specialist CityFibre has submitted a complaint to the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) saying BT’s proposed acquisition of EE will be anti-competitive and damage the government’s ‘ultrafast’ broadband roll-out plans, a report has claimed.

UK government capitulates to operators over rural mobile coverage

UK to split broadband pot among 10 cities

Ten UK cities have been allocated a share of a £114m (US$185 million) government investment to deploy city-wide broadband networks. London will receive the largest share, £25m, while Leeds and Bradford will share £14.4m. Belfast will receive £13.7m and Manchester £12m.

US denies Huawei bid due to fears over national security

Chinese network vendor Huawei has been refused permission by the US government to bid for a contract to work on the nationwide emergency network. A government spokesperson said that permission was refused due to national security concerns. The firm as now asked the government to elaborate on its reasons.
