Carrier Aggregation study finds download peaks in excess of 100Mbps

A recent benchmark test carried out by consultancy Signals Research yielded some impressive results for LTE-Advanced technology carrier aggregation, allowing South Korean operators to deliver consistent peaks in excess of 100Mbps and average downlink speeds of 62Mbps.

SK Telecom signs deals to improve LTE-A coverage and performance

South Korean operator SK Telecom has announced two deals with European kit vendors as it looks to expand and develop its network services. The operator has expanded its LTE-Advanced service across South Korea using equipment supplied by Ericsson and signed a Memorandum of Understanding with German radio test and measurement equipment manufacturer Rohde & Schwarz to develop next-generation antenna technologies.

SK Telecom launches commercial LTE Advanced service

South Korean operator SK Telecom has launched what it says is the world’s first commercially available LTE-Advanced service. The operator said it is offering LTE-Advanced at standard LTE prices.

South Korean carrier SK Telecom this week held a demonstration of LTE technology ahead of a planned commercial launch in July, announcing its intention to upgrade to LTE-Advanced during 2013.
