Huawei signs cloud/IoT partnerships with Deutsche Telekom, SAP

Deutsche Telekom (DT) and Huawei have announced an IT and cloud partnership at the computer expo CeBIT 2015. The two firms said the deal will see Huawei provide its hardware and solutions expertise to combine with DT’s systems integrator arm T-Systems’ cloud experience.

Tecnotree CTO says operators need more agility in BSS environments

The CTO of Finnish business support systems specialist Tecnotree has said the traditional approach to BSS can hold operators back and solutions that work now might be unworkable in five years’ time. Talking to Telecoms.com at the Mobile World Congress 2015, Timo Ahomäki said telcos need to focus their thinking on where their business is going and build a system around that vision.

MVNO Lebara launches in Saudi Arabia

European-based MVNO Lebara has announced the launch of its service in Saudi Arabia over Mobily’s network. The provider, named Lebara Mobile KSA (Kingdom of Saudi Arabia), was granted the licence as part of the Saudi regulator’s attempt to shake-up the country’s telecoms market by ordering each of the three operators to host an MVNO.

Virgin Mobile launches in Saudi Arabia

Virgin Mobile Middle East & Africa (VMMEA) has begun services in Saudi Arabia. In a shake-up to the kingdom’s mobile market, the Communication and Information Technology Commission of Saudi Arabia (CITC) has ordered each of the country’s three mobile operators to host an MVNO to boost competition.

VoLTE deployments set to double next year

The introduction of VoLTE is accelerating with 21% of operators currently investing in deployments, and according to the Global mobile Suppliers Association (GSA) the figure is set to double next year. So far a total of 10, of which seven this year, commercial VoLTE-enabled HD voice services have been launched, and the GSA is expecting eight more by the end of 2014.
