Vietnamese carrier Viettel has expanded beyond Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos, this week lighting up its first operation in Africa – a mobile network in Mozambique.
The Mozambican government has chosen Movitel as the recipient of the country’s third mobile license. Movitel, a unit of Vietnam’s Viettel, beat TMM of Portugal Telecom and the joint venture between Angola’s Unitel SA and Mozambique’s Energy Capital SA, with its $29m bid.
