BICS, the international wholesale arm of Belgian operator Proximus, reckons it’s successfully launched the first fully end-to-end international VoLTE call between Europe and Asia.
Alcatel-Lucent has confirmed shipments of its VDSL2 vectoring line equipment have surpassed 10 million, as the technology becomes increasingly popular among global service providers. The announcement was made alongside Proximus, formerly known as Belgacom, at a ceremony in Brussels.
Belgian operator Belgacom has chosen to drop the Belgacom brand name for the services it offers in the country, choosing instead to brand all mobile, fixed and IT services under the Proximus brand. The change will come into effect at the end of 2014.
Belgian carrier Proximus has made LTE access available to all customers at no extra cost, going against the grain of operators charging a premium for the service.
Embattled telecoms giant, Vodafone, today announced its decision to sell its 25 per cent stake in Belgium’s dominant telecoms group, Proximus, to Belgacom.
