US operator Sprint has posted an operating loss of $874m for the quarter ended June 30, 2013. The figure takes into account non-cash charges of $623m related to the shutdown of the Nextel iDEN platform. Accelerated depreciation of assets also accounted for approximately $430m of the loss.
UK-based carrier Vodafone revealed stability in its operations over the full year to end March 31, but recorded negligible growth.
Things are looking up for MetroPCS as it continues to roll out its LTE network. The operator, which was the first US network to launch LTE, has announced record first quarter results of US$285m, an increase of approximately 28 per cent over first quarter of 2010.
