3 UK head steps down

Announcing the departure of a CEO is turning into something of a bandwagon and 3 UK became the latest company to jump on it on Thursday.

The UK 3G operator said that Bob Fuller is to retire as he turns 60 at the end of June.

Fuller has been with 3 UK for four years, following two years with sister company 3 Italy. Fuller will be replaced by Kevin Russell.

Kevin Russell joined Hutchison Telecommunications International Limited (HTIL) n 1995 and was later appointed as CFO of HTIL’s Israeli operation, Partner Communications, in 1999. He then went on to become CEO of Hutchison Telecommunications Australia in 2001 and has been deputy CEO of 3UK since January.

Last week saw departure announcements from Edward Whitacre, chief executive of AT&T, Sanjiv Ahuja, head of Orange’s international and domestic mobile operations, and the president and chief executive officer of German vendor Siemens, Klaus Kleinfeld.
