Gavin Darby, the former Vodafone executive who became CEO at Cable and Wireless Worldwide (CWW) in November 2011 has been removed from his role after Vodafone completed its acquisition of CWW.

Darby held roles as CEO/COO of Vodafone UK, CEO for USA, Africa, China and India at Vodafone Group, and director Asia Pacific/Middle East, before leaving the operator in 2010, reportedly due to a difference of opinion with CEO Vittorio Colao.

Now, having served as CEO at CWW for just nine months, he is leaving as part of a management overhaul in the wake of Vodafone’s £1bn acquisition of the firm.

Chief executive of Vodafone Global Enterprise, Nick Jeffery, will take on Darby’s role, and according to Vodafone, the two will work together to ensure a smooth transition before Darby leaves at the end of October.

CWW’s CFO Ian Gibson, acting CTO Dave Broady and acting HR director Jane Little are also leaving CWW to make way for Vodafone insiders.

Jan Geldmacher, enterprise business unit director of Vodafone Germany, will take on the role vacated by Jeffery.
