Deutsche Telekom sees 10% rise in profit
German operator Deutsche Telekom said net profit for the quarter ended June 30 was up ten per cent year on year to €530m.

German operator Deutsche Telekom said net profit for the quarter ended June 30 was up ten per cent year on year to €530m.
Net revenue increased 5.4 per cent year on year in the second quarter to €15.2bn, although adjusted EBITDA decreased by six per cent to €4.4bn year on year.
During the quarter, Deutsche Telekom also saw 1.38 million net mobile subscriber additions group-wide. The number of television customers increased by 121,000 in the quarter and 44,000 broadband customers were also added.
T-Mobile USA recorded 688,000 new branded postpaid customers between April and June compared with a loss of 557,000 in the prior-year quarter. Deutsche Telekom’s revenue in the US climbed 28.8 per cent in the second quarter to $6.3bn.
In Germany, Deutsche Telekom said it regained market leadership in terms of service revenues after seeing a one per cent year on year increase, when adjusted for the cut in mobile termination rates (MTR)
“We are winning droves of customers on both sides of the Atlantic,” said René Obermann, Chairman of the Board of Management of Deutsche Telekom. “Our strategy is bearing fruit: We are in the middle of a massive turnaround in the United States and we want to carry on along this successful course. We are prepared to spend more on high-value growth this year than previously planned.
“In Germany, we have regained market leadership in terms of mobile service revenues thanks to our well-known best network quality and top service. And we gained more customers at European subsidiaries, too.”
