Spanish operator group Telefonica has bolstered its mobile content portal in Spain, in a bid to stave off competition from over-the-top service providers.

Launched in 2001, Emocion is Movistar’s premium online portal for entertainment content including games, music, images and ringtones. Telefónica said that the revamped offering enables customers to better access relevant content with personalised recommendations and searching capabilities.

The operator called on telecom value-added services provider OnMobile to integrate software aimed to improve the way customers are offered relevant content.

The vendor also integrated functionalities such as speech recognition for all devices and it has removed complex management tasks, such as the integration with content providers.

“The prime objective is to enhance user experience and expand service and content availability on that,” said Sumit Sardana, senior director of sales at OnMobile. “We use some of our enhanced platforms and intelligence tools to provide personalised recommendations, adapting flows according to individual subscriber tastes.”
