Girls like pink phones shock

More research from the Department of the Blindingly Obvious this week – apparently girls favour pink coloured phones, while guys prefer tech-heavy devices.
After analysing its sales data, UK mobile phone retailer Dialaphone, found that the top six devices favoured by the fairer sex are all pink editions.
The gadget with the highest proportion of female owners – 74 per cent – is the Nokia 6111 Pink edition, followed very closely by the Samsung D800 Pink with 73 per cent and the Samsung E900 and Motorola Pebl in Pink, with 72 per cent. The Motorola V3 in Pink, with a 71 per cent female ownership base closes the top 5 girly phones.
No surprises there except maybe that each of the top 5 phones evidently has a roughly 25 per cent male ownership base.
When looking at the top 10 most manly devices however, there is an almost 50-50 split between sombre shades of silver and black. The most popular man-owned device is the Nokia N95 superphone, with a 80 per cent strong male membership base, followed by the Nokia 8800 Sirocco Light with 79 per cent.
The Samsung X820 takes third slot with a 76 per cent strong male owner base followed by the 8800 again in Dark with 75 per cent and the Sony Ericsson P990i in fifth with 74 per cent.
There are a few surprises however, noted Dialaphone. “The Prada phone by LG, surely a shoe-in for the girliest phone award, is actually pretty popular among the guys. 47 per cent of all Pradas are in fact bought by fellas,” the company said.
But LG has it covered, as the LG Chocolate and Chocolate Platinum are big favourites with the ladies, who account for over 60 per cent of all owners.
“The award for the girliest manufacturer goes to Samsung, while every single Sony Ericsson that we sell has a higher percentage of male owners than females,” Dialaphone said.
