The UK’s largest annual charitable event, Red Nose Day, is about to go mobile with the news that the Comic Relief charity is to put a selection of videos from the event, onto mobile phones.

Starting Friday, Red Nose Day is a 24-hour comedy extravaganza designed to raise money for charitable causes around the world. Some of the biggest names in British comedy band together in the annual activities which take place across Britain.

Mobix has worked with Comic Relief to deliver on-demand 1 minute videos from previous Red Nose day events as well as exclusive clips from this year’s.

The clips will be available across O2 and T-Mobile networks and include, Ricky Gervais, Little Britain, Catherine Tate and French & Saunders as well as Robbie Williams, George Michael, Hugh Grant, McFly and Blue.

Steve Carter, account director at Mobix, told Telecoms.com: “Each clip costs £1.50 with £1.05 going directly to Comic Relief.” The remaining 45 pence goes towards tax and costs for the operators and Mobix, Carter said.

Martin Gill, head of new media at Comic Relief said: “It has been great working with Mobix to drive revenue from our archive and fresh Red Nose Day content. This new income stream builds well on the work we have been doing in the mobile world for the last 5 years.”
