Mobile operator T-Mobile USA has signed up skateboarding legend Tony Hawk to promote a limited edition Sidekick device.

The Sidekick LX incorporates a ‘skateboard look’ with grip tape texture and graphics, as well as a customised Tony Hawk theme for the interface.

The LX will also be the first Sidekick to ship with a function to allow video recording, playing and sharing, as well as stereo Bluetooth support.

“I’ve been a loyal Sidekick user since the first model that launched back in 2002; I use my Sidekick for everything from staying connected to friends to keeping my hectic schedule on track,” said Tony Hawk.

T-Mobile has historically turned to celebrities to promote its niche but popular Sidekick device, Paris Hilton for one has been a long standing ambassador of the gadget.
