UK-based mobile phone retailer the Carphone Warehouse launched another MVNO (Mobile Virtual Network Operator) this week, with the aim of delivering low cost services under the Talkmobile brand.

Talkmobile is offering postpay contracts for either 9, 12 or 18 months, for £12, £15 and £18 respectively. Inclusive minutes total 50, 75, or 100 depending on the bundle, with an equal amount of texts. Out of bundle calls cost 20p, while SMS’ cost 10p. Users also get 500 texts per month to send to other Talkmobile users.

Carphone has also made a handful of phones available from free or up to £20, including the LG Chocolate, Motorola W220 and Nokia 6300.

Talkmobile piggybacks on the Vodafone network, which is a little unusual as Voda pulled its new contract subscription business from Carphone this time last year.

Carphone Warehouse already operates a prepay MVNO under the Fresh Mobile brand on T-Mobile’s network.
