Service optimisation and revenue generation specialist Allot has announced at the LTE World Summit taking place in Amsterdam this week that an as-yet unnamed multinational mobile operator has selected its ChargeSmart intelligent charging solution. The product will be deployed in nine markets, covering some 30 million users, Allot said.
The firm said that the solution could help operators looking to drive revenues from traffic generated by he consumption of over the top applications and services. Intelligence on such usage could enable carriers to introduce new charging models, including content revenue share, service tiering and volume quotas, Allot said.
“As the mobile data market matures, operators are showing an increasing readiness to adopt more personalized subscriber pricing models, as well as institute revenue sharing models with content providers,” said Rami Hadar, Allot’s CEO. He added that the solution, “helps operators close the widening gap between traffic load and revenues by offering subscribers increased choice and control while charging based on actual usage. It also strengthens their position in the mobile value chain by enabling new revenue sharing models between content providers and operators.
The gathering momentum of LTE is reflected in the growth of Informa’s LTE World Summit. Attendee numbers are up year on year by more than 100 per cent at 1,750, with 110 countries respresented, compared to 60 in 2010.
