Spanish telecoms infrastructure provider Cellnex has opened three new offices in Manchester, Leamington Spa and North Lanarkshire which will host 150 staff.
The new hubs are supposed to help the firm deliver localised support to customers and aid in ‘partnerships and collaborative projects’ in the regions, but more broadly to help deliver on its growth ambitions. The firm says it has invested £6.1 billion in its UK operations over the last 18-months, and now owns over 9,000 active sites across the country.
“Our three new offices will allow Cellnex UK to deliver an increasingly localised service and contribute to economic growth and digital innovation in each region,” said David Crawford, Managing Director, Cellnex UK. “The regional approach will help us to accelerate our work in bringing connectivity to everyone, everywhere in the UK. I’m very excited to begin using the spaces to collaborate with our colleagues, customers, partners and suppliers.”
In February Cellnex reported a 58% revenue growth for 2021, although net losses for the period came in at €351 million, partly attributed to footprint expansion and acquisition activity. And last week The UK Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) gave Cellnex the green light to acquire 6,000 cell sites from CK Hutchison, on the condition it divest around 1,000 sites. So the firm has clearly been busy on all sorts of infrastructure acquisition ventures recently – at some point you obviously need more staff and offices to operate it all.
