HomePNA approved by Digital Living Network Alliance

Home networking forum the HomePNA Alliance has seen its technology standard approved by the Digital Living Network Alliance (DLNA) for incorporation into the next version of its Networked Device Interoperability Guidelines.

Over 20 million HomePNA chipsets are estimated to have been shipped worldwide, and the technology is currently deployed across five continents.

HomePNA 3.1 has been standardised by the International Telecommunications Union (ITU) as Recommendation G.9954, leading a number of telcos around the world to adopt the technology for their IPTV and triple-play services.

“DLNA and HomePNA share a common vision – to simplify the installation of networked products,” said Michael Weissman, president of the HomePNA Alliance. “HomePNA believes that DLNA Certified HomePNA products will help drive additional reductions in IPTV installation and operating costs, saving time and money for service providers and increasing customer satisfaction.”
