Nordic operator 3 Scandinavia is to beef up its HSPA network up to 21Mbps on the downlink.

On Monday, the operator, which runs 3G networks in Sweden and Denmark, said it has tapped Swedish kit vendor Ericsson to upgrade its networks.

The upgrade will give 3’s customers improved access to mobile broadband services, including internet and music and video downloads.

Ericsson will improve speeds in selected parts of Sweden and Denmark, whilst continuing to extend network coverage and speed upgrades throughout 2009. The commercial launch of ‘Turbo 3G’ is planned for the first half of 2009.
