ZTE selected for Indian broadband project

Indian telco BSNL has selected Chinese vendor ZTE to deploy ultra high-speed ADSL2+ and next-generation VDSL2+ broadband devices across the operator’s network.

The agreement involves the deployment of three million subscriber broadband units across the 15 “circles” or concession areas held by BSNL, which currently serves 85 per cent of all fixed-line subscribers in the country.

The project is expected to expand the reach and quality of BSNL’s fixed broadband services across the country and address the requirements of future multimedia broadband services there.

ZTE has already deployed over three million subscriber broadband units for BSNL, and following this new contract win, DSLAM equipment from ZTE will account for between 40 per cent and 45 per cent of BSNL’s DSL market share.
